The image of a hawk is carve into this quartz crystal.
The natural crystal cluster is mounted on a base that
is created with twig replicas cast in sterling silver.
The bittersweet twig base was created by method of
lost wax casting . The twig pieces were then hand soldered
and fit around quartz specimen. The quartz is from Arkansas.
The weight of the silver is .85 troy oz. (26. 35 grams).
I carved the image of the hawk in relief, down into the
quartz crystal with a diamond tool… in reverse on the back
side. Natural inclusions in the crystal appear as clouds.
When turned at a certain angle it appears as if there are
two hawks flying together ( a trick of the crystals faceted sides!).
The many pointed tops of the crystals resemble mountain tops
with the hawk soaring above them. The sculpture stands 2 1/2" tall.
The footprint of the base is 2 1/2" X 1 3/4".
