These unusual sterling silver earrings feature genuine pearls
with a baroque shape. The pearls are shaped like small acorns
and have a beautiful luster. The triangle shaped design dangles
1” long from the French hook style ear wires. Gold-filled
accent beads highlight the design. The pearls are white and
measure 5/16” x ¼”, approximately.

Natural pearls form when an irritant (like a grain of sand)
lodges under the mantle of a mollusk (oysters in salt water),
mussels in fresh water). To protect itself, the animal layers
a secretion (nacre) around the irritant. Eventually the layers
of nacre form a pearl. To culture pearls, a bead is inserted
under the mantle, triggering the nacre forming.
