These earrings feature genuine teardrop shaped pearls and
garnet beads. The gemstone combination dangles ¾” from the
French hook style ear wires. The pearls are an off white color
I call “champaign”...that very nicely compliment the warm garnet tones.

Natural pearls form when an irritant (like a grain of sand) lodges
under the mantle of a mollusk (oysters in salt water),
(mussels in fresh water). To protect itself, the animal layers
a secretion (nacre) around the irritant. Eventually the layers
of nacre form a pearl. To culture pearls, a bead is inserted
under the mantle, triggering the nacre forming.
About garnet...the name garnet comes from the Latin word “granatum”
(pomegranate); this alludes to the garnet’s color and seed-like
crystal formation. This gem is said to strengthen health, fidelity,
and imagination. It is the birthstone for January.
